It's Summer!
So, the next time the kids come to you saying that they're bored, hand them a sheet of paper, pencil, and an envelope! Because I'm going to tell you about Summer PenPals (that may even live across the street!)
Okay, so we all know kids do get bored...But sometimes parents just don't have enough tools, or ideas, to keep their kids occupied 24/7. So here is an easy, and fun, way to get your kids writing and reading during summer!
What you'll need:
a couple sheets of paper
a pencil or pen
and an envelope
and a stamp (if you sent it by mail)
All of the things needed for this, PenPal Boredom Buster, you probably already have in your home! And this is a great way for kids to continue learning Language Arts, even after school has been dismissed! It is also has a more accomplished feel, when you complete a note and get the satisfaction of putting it in your friends mailbox then, if you sent a text over the phone. So, gather the supplies and have your child write a note to someone who lives close (or far away). Maybe they write a note to a best friend, grandparents, aunt or uncle, cousin, anyone they choose! Then, place the stamp and sent it! (Or if your recipient lives down the road or across the way, just stick it in their mailbox no stamp needed!) And there you have it! A simple and fun way to connect to people, away from screens! Now, all you have to do is wait for a note back!
(Wouldn't it be nice to be out relaxing by THIS, while you write your letter?! Happy Summer!)
